Kids Speed/Acceleration Clinic

Service Description

This clinic is offered to kids birth years 2009-2015 with city league and higher experience and will take place July 27th/28th. We will also have a dedicated goalie coach to work with goalies on their agility, maneuvering, and speed as well. (Please use separate registration link if registering as a goalie, as we have limited space) 1. Speed Changes: Master the strategic use of speed changes to outmaneuver opponents and create scoring opportunities. Learn how to burst into overdrive when you see an opening and how to shift gears seamlessly to maintain control of the play. 2. Acceleration and Deceleration: Explore the tactics behind rapid acceleration and deceleration. Discover when to use explosive power and when to use deceleration to throw off your opponent defensively. 3. Maneuvers and Dekes: Hone your ability to navigate through defenders with precision and flair. From classic dekes to innovative maneuvers, board usage, and more, we'll teach you how to leave opponents in the dust while maintaining possession of the puck. 4. Quick Starts: Develop lightning-fast starts that leave your opponents scrambling to catch up. Whether it's from a standstill or on the move, learn the techniques to launch yourself into action with maximum speed and efficiency. 5. Transitions: Master the art of seamless transitions between skating directions. Perfect your pivot turns, crossovers, and transitions from forward to backward skating, giving you the agility to react to any situation on the ice. 6. Edge Work: Sharpen your edge work to become a master of agility and control. Learn how to carve tight turns, maintain balance on your edges, and outmaneuver opponents with proper strength and conditioning. Throughout the clinic, we'll be focusing on drills and exercises designed to enhance your speed and acceleration both with and without the puck. Dates: Saturday July 27th: 10:30am - 12:00pm Saturday July 27th: 5:15pm - 6:45pm Sunday July 28th: 11:45am- 1:00pm Registration will include a custom Tookey Hockey practice jersey, electrolyte sample from SaltStick® as well as a pizza party held in the rink lobby after the last session, where kids can ask questions and receive feedback from our coaching staff.
